How to understand term of plasticity
Firstly, I am really sorry if you are in the middle of your supper while reading this topic. It is quite slipshod but it is worthy in order to feel soil classification…for geotech engineer for sure!

This clue may helpful if you are young geotech engineer who is involved in soil classification at newly jobs.
What is plasticity? What is effect after knowing it? How could feel plasticity from cohesive soil?

As rule from our soil mechanics founder, Atterberg who are agro scientist (if I am not wrong), cohesive soil may roughly classify if Plasticity Index (PI) > 50 then we could quote this soil is “in plastic zone”, and vice versa if PI < 50
One thing that you could give an idea is to take out “sticky dried snot” from your inside nose. Yes...it is very helpful to feel the plasticity as you know it is made from very fine material (dust) that is similar with clay, and also from water (snot). Trust me, while you try to roll it on and on…you could feel how plastic the material is. It is perfect…while the material being rolled, no sticky material part left on your finger. It can be formed to ball with any crack. Really it is perfect clay! Try it! But don’t forget to wash you hand afterward…otherwise some material may swallow in your stomach…yaks!!------------
